Hip Pain

GET THE RIGHT HIP PAIN TREATMENT

Hip pain is stinging uncomfortable pain felt in the areas around the hip. This condition can be difficult to diagnose by yourself because sometimes the pain is felt in the groin or upper thigh or even in the buttocks, and can be confusing to determine.

The major causes of pain are problems or weaknesses in the muscles and tendons but also it can be caused by certain diseases.

Hip pain could be the source of:

  • Arthritis
  • Muscle strain
  • Sprains
  • Hip fractures
  • Nerve irritation

Other causes:

  • Overuse/activity
  • Lower back strain
  • Hip infections
  • Snapping (this is when the hip cracks due to intensive activity)
  • Labrum tear
  • Accident/Injury
  • Age-related

Types of Hip Related injuries / Causes / Symptoms

Labrum Tear

The labrum tear is when the outer part of the hip socket breaks.

In your hip socket, the labrum acts like a seal that holds the hip bone firmly in its place. When the labrum breaks, your hip bone can no longer stay in one place and each movement it makes causes labrum pain.

Labrum pain is common among athletes because it happens after intense activities like running, high jumps etc.

 Symptoms

Failure to move the leg and chronic pain in the hip area.

Hip Osteoarthritis/ Hip Degeneration

Also known as arthritis, hip degeneration or joint inflammation, hip osteoarthritis arises when there is damage or breakdown of the cartilage tissue which then leads to swelling and pain.

The cartilage tissue is made up of proteins, water, and a rubbery material. This tissue is what helps the hip bone move without causing friction. Once the tissue breaks down, pain can be felt in the hip and surrounding areas as a result of friction coming from the movements made in the inner bone.

 Symptoms

  • Stiffness in the joints
  • Crunching sound
  • Swelling and Pain

Hip Bursitis

Hip Bursitis is the most common cause of pain in the hip. It happens when the muscles or tendons near the hip become injured. Hip Bursitis pain can be felt in the buttocks and also in the hip area and many times bursitis takes time to develop after an injury. The condition is treated using simple remedies such as applying ice packs, rest and administering antibiotics to stop the pain.

 Symptoms

  • Failure to move properly
  • Hip tenderness
  • Fever
  • Spread out pain
